Anti Semitism
By Brittany Bush
Throughout history, many racial groups have been discriminated against. Out of all of these groups the one that stands out the most are the Jews. Many Jews have faced Anti Semitism their whole lives. Anti Semitism is something that has lasted throughout history and is something people need to know about so another Holocaust doesn’t happen again, today or in the future.
The Holocaust is history’s major example of Anti Semitism. When the Nazi’s rose to power in 1933, they burned any book that was by a Jewish author or any book that was Jewish related. On April 1st, 1933 the Star of David was rudely painted on Jewish shops and businesses. Gentiles told people not to buy from these stores. On November 9th, 1938 the Nazis smashed the windows of Jewish owned stores. Hitler and the Nazis stormed into night clubs, theaters, and cafés. They took anyone who looked like a Jew and beat them. The events of that day became known as Kristallnacht- The Night of Broken Glass. The Jews had to wear a yellow Star of David. The Star made any Jew a target for the Nazis to attack. The Jews were sent to concentration camps where they were gassed or died of exhaustion, starvation, disease, etc. Hitler and the Nazis killed the Jews because they thought that they were different and a race that was less than everybody else. Hitler and the Nazis killed six million Jews during the Holocaust.
It is unfortunate that Anti Semitism still exists in this day in age. With all the new technology, new innovations, and new ideas in the world, something so pathetic still goes on. People must never forget what happened so long ago.
