Anne Frank

By Brenna Conley and Savannah Strandin

Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1929. Her parents were Otto and Edith Frank, and Anne had one sister named Margot.

Margot received a call-up notice in 1940. She was told to report to the Nazis. Instead of following the order, the Franks left Germany for the Netherlands and went into hiding. They went into hiding with the van Daan family and a man named Mr. Dussel. When Anne was 15, the families were betrayed and the Nazis found them and took the families to concentration camps. Edith died in Auschwitz, and Anne and Margot died of typhus in Bergen-Belson. Otto was the only Frank who survived.

While the families were in hiding, Anne wrote in her diary about her hopes, dreams, frustrations, and how she loved Peter van Daan. Anne’s diary was published in 1947, and a movie about Anne was produced in 1959.
