At 11:02 am August 8th, 1945, 2 days after the bombing of Hiroshima, the second atomic bomb, “Fat Man”, was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. It missed the target by over a mile, but still had the same effect. Over 75,000 out of 240,000 people were killed that day from the explosion.
The atomic bomb was dropped because the Americans wanted to end the war quicker and to bring the troops home. There were two bombs dropped; Little Boy and Fat Man. Little Boy, the smaller of the two, was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th, 1944. Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki three days later.
