Japanese Involvement

By Michael Galliano

Japan helped start World War II. They invaded the richer parts of China in order to steal supplies and raw materials. Japan also bombed Pearl Harbor, which brought the Unites States into the war.

Pearl Harbor was a catastrophe for the U.S. The Japanese had approximately 1,000 planes that attacked the important U.S. Naval Base. Many people died, and even more were injured. Eight major American battleships were destroyed. Ten regular ships were sunk, and one hundred and eighty-seven planes were either destroyed or seriously damaged.

The Japanese received cocaine from Germans for kamikaze and bomb squad soldiers. The cocaine gave the Japanese an energy boost and kept them going. The Japanese would have rather committed suicide rather than allowing themselves to be defeated.
