U.S. Navy
By Joseph Bradel
Years have passed and several battles were fought around the world. From the time weapons have been put on battle ships, naval battles have decided what ship sinks and what ships float. World War II is a great example of the most extreme naval battles ever fought. Without the U.S. Navy, WWII would have possibly carried on for years and years.
The U.S. Navy fought many battles mostly in the pacific. The U.S. Navy was bombed at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. The U.S. Navy then fought many very important battles such as the battle of Midway, which marked the end of Japanese expansion in the Pacific, and the shelling of the industrial areas Hitachi and Mito. The U.S. Navy also fought battles in the Atlantic. Without being able to control the Atlantic, it would be hard for the U.S. to supply the troops in Europe, let alone get the troops over there in one piece.
The U.S. Navy ended up being the most powerful navy in the world with 3,400,000 men, 2,500 women, 25 battleships, 35 aircraft carriers, 77 escort carriers, 92 cursers, 501 destroyers, 406 destroyer escorts, and 262 submarines. The U.S. Navy was how the United States of America became involved in World War II and how the Untied States of American ended World War II.
